What's with the new STAR smog check in CA?

take it to the California smog ref they only charge 8.25 to smog it and if you fail you dont pay any thing. i half to take mine to the ref do to most places around here refuse to service my car because the engine is jdm with bar sticker .

look up bar in your phone book or call your local sheriffs or chp office they will give you the number to your local smog ref . there mostly at a college like i live in modest so my smog ref is at mjc modesto junior college .there not hard to fined look in the phone book and call around . or fined a police officer stop him and ask him . when i got pulled over and sited for my engine and other stuff that's when the officer also told me about the smog ref at mjc and what i needed to do to make my car legit and avoid paying a hefty fine . the smog ref is stricked but you don't pay until you pass and the one here at mjc is only 8.25$ . the dude is cool to .

Thanks. Could you tell me more about this? Is it a testing station? Is it a place where they help you get your car to pass smog? Or what exactly does it do to help us?
My car is all stock so I would not imagine the police will pull me over for my engine.

it's a smog and test station they are allowed to do both . they can also give you forms to programs where the state will help make repairs to your car/truck buy paying so much then you pay the rest . they will buy the car from you as cash for clunkers i think it is . if you go there they will tell what you need to do or give you hints depending on whats wrong with it . if something is missing they will tell you . if something aint right they will try to point you in the right way as much as the law will let them . the smog ref here at mjc is cool .

all it means is that the state wants to make your car fail so that you have to either

1. buy a new car.

2. fix all the things wrong with your car.

not only old cars are selected though. My friends 2010 camry was selected to go to a start test.

I believe salvaged cars are also required to go to a star station. I have my registration due at the end of the year for my 2009 avenger, hopefully I can just go to a regular smog station since the last time i smogged it I got zero emissions. the guy was fairly surprised.

theres also random selection. my subaru was selected at random last time but it is also salvaged. ive tested a lot of cb's and more and more are starting to fail but honestly, the majority of them are clunkers.

Seriously though. What's throwing off your readings is the Seafoam. If you put a certain amount into your gas tank to rid the moisture, you have to let ALL OF THE Seafoam-diluted GAS burn off completely and top off with 87 octane gas since it was designed to run off that octane only. (Unless you have an H22 or H23, only then will you need 91.)
