    Trouble with fans

I have searched/read the threads pertaining to the issue I'm having, but have not found a very definitive answer. During normal driving, my fans do not kick on. Usually, this is not a problem, however this last summer it became troublesome. No head gasket blows or anything, the gauge did creep towards the high end while sitting in traffic. Cut the heater on, and once the car got going again, the temp went down. The fans do, however, kick on and run for a minute or so after the car is shut off. Doesn't matter if I drive for 45 minutes, or 7 minutes to work. I don't have alot of free time to guess, or money to try different parts. Any ideas as to which items to check first, such as the coolant temperature sensor? Thanks guys!

Yes, check the temp sensor sitting on the thermostat housing.
The sensor closes the circuit above 93*C (199*F).

Thanks. I was reading the other thread you had posted in (also about fan issues) and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
