    M2B4 with bad Synchros

So i was just given a free M2B4 LSD transmission today....

    Problem is...

Synchros are shot in it.. So it needs new ones...

Do any of you know how to redue them or know of any decent shops that arent gonna rob me blind in WA State?

I would love to be able to rebuild it with one of you guys that knows what your doing so i could do most of the work.. Haha. I've always wanted to know how to do transmissions..

Plus, do you know if the LSD will fit in my stock trans? If not, will it fit in the stick H22 trans?
    Thank you.

If you've never rebuilt a transmission before, I wouldn't try to learn on this one. Get an F-series transmission from the junkyard and go to town on that one first. Then, once your feet are wet, you have the appropriate manuals and replacement parts in front of you and lots of patience try it out.

It's really odd that you haven't done any research on the topic at all yet. There are guides out there that will help get you started. Don't worry about whether or not they're for a B-series or D-series for the sake of case disassembly.

Also read up about swapping the 5th gear for improved economy. Losiracer did that and got great results. You still won't get near the mileage that an F22 transmission would, but much better than stock M2B4.

No, the LSD will not fit into any other housing other than the one it came in. You cannot use it in your Accord transmission or non-LSD Prelude transmissions.

Thank you. I've read up on it a tad bit. But I think I remember seeing that you need a press and specialized tools...

And about swapping fifth gear that's awesome for the idea. I drive 90% freeway so that would be great.

And I have full access to shop manuals and whatever I would need from work. (Besides tools) transmissions just seem so idk... Complicated.. I would just be worried about doing it myself...

too bad you don't live in AZ, there's a guy that rebuilds only honda trannies local and he did mine, including the 5th gear swap out and shimming for 200+parts.

I had to get a new 5th gear syncro, as well as mainshaft and countershaft bearings done. All in all it cost me about 400 to get it redone.

So if you're willing to R/R the tranny yourself, then it would save you a ton.

but its a definite improvement. I now cruise at 3200 at 80mph and get about 31 hwy vs. 27/28 what I used to before on long drives
