    oil light flashing?

About 2 weeks ago my oil light started flashing so I checked it and I was a little low so I put a qt in and the light stoped flashing, then the other day it started doing it again so I checked my oil again and it was fine but when I turned my car off and back on it went away...

Has anyone else had a simmaler issue?

    could be 2 things.
    1. the oil pressure switch could be bad
    2. the oil pump could be on its way out.

              Also:

              6) Sporadic short in the wiring for the oil pressure indicator light in the dash.
              7) Sporadic short in the wiring for the oil pressure sensor signal to the ECU.

It comes on due to low oil pressure. check the oil if its good then take the pan off and clean the screen. Try that before buying parts to anything.

That's what I planned on...I'm guessing I should get a new pan gasket?

I had the same problem and with an oil and filter change and the problem went away. I also ran 10k miles on the sane oil so it was a bit dirty.

It looks like you had pushed to out side of oil performance envelope, there.

The first thing you should really be doing is checking your oil pressure with an oil pressure gauge. That will tell you if your oil pump is working properly or not. If the oil pressure is correct, then you likely have a faulty/failing oil pressure sending unit, or there is an electrical issue. If the pressure is not correct, then it could be any number of things, but most likely a failing pump, but possibly clogged oil passages or a very, very dirty oil filter. You don't mention anything about an external leak, but you did mention you had to recently top off the oil. It's possible you're losing it somewhere internally, which has the potential to drop the oil pressure. That said, you would have to be filling the oil quite regularly if that was the case.
