got the car to run but!!!when the car is cold it starts hard. idles at 0 then chugs to 1,500 then it runs fine. also i smell gas while the car is chuging. is that my timing if so what do i set the timing to and how.also the battery light flickers on and off as i accelerate what could cause this.

hey the battery is the alternater first of all your battery is not charging alternater i know this for sure just ran into this problem with alternater and the smell of gass might be flodding the engine try changing the fuel filter on firewall to left under vaccum lines relieve presure on fuel rail first and taking out fuel filter is tit after that

fuel filter and pump were replaced. it sounds to me like a missfire like running on 2 cyl for 10sec.did i mess the timing up when replaceing the dist.need help fast i dont wanna kill my motor.new dist, cap,rotor,ngk wires,plugs keep fouling out,alot of gas is on the plugs when i pull them ive changed 3 sets in 3 days.my ignition switch is messed up alittle could this be a cause.
