So like the title says, I was installing my H23 manual tensioner over the holiday break and found that one of the tapped holes was stripped completely out by the previous owner.
I think I'm either going to order a m10x1.5 helicoil and use that, but the thought crossed my mind to use quick fix epoxy putty and re-drill and tap it. I think the heat will soften it too much and because it is part of my timing belt tensioning system I would really like to do it right.
My two best options I can think of are:
1. Use helicoil threaded insert
2. Drill and tap the hole to a larger metric or next size up SAE thread and ream the mating bracket to match
I'm open to other options.
EDIT: Has anyone tried permatex stripped thread repair kit on a motor block or something else that gets heat cycled?
