    Oil pan gasket popped out?

This is about my brothers accord, its a manual f22a6

A few months ago we replaced the oil pan gasket, it was as hard as a rock and broke apart like plastic

We installed the new one and torqued the pan to spec

Well a few months after that i replaced his spark plug tube seals ( upper and lower )

Ever since then hes been telling me its been using aton of oil, hes been adding a quart or two every fillup

Today i looked under the car and noticed that between every 2 bolts on the oil pan the gasket popped out

I was reading that a clogged PCV system could cause this but the valve looks fine ( so does the hose. )

The port on the intake manifold itself looked dirty so i cleaned it, could that be the cause? Clogged hole not allowing enough pressure out of the engine causing too much pressure in the engine thus blowing out the gasket?

    The engine is 100% stock.

    Any ideas?

Just out of curiosity, what brand of oil pan seal did you use?

Have you calibrated the torque wrench lately? I had a bad torque wrench that would allow 5-10lbs of extra torque. Threw that bastard away with the quickness.

It would take an awful lot of pressure to pucker the seal between every bolt. Typically too much crank case pressure just puckers in one spot and that is only in extreme cases.

If the port on the IM was dirty check the hose for blockage. Did you torque an OEM gasket or a parts store gasket?

As said in the original post the hose was fine

It was an advance auto brand gasket we used

And i've never calibrated the torque wrench nor did the thought even cross my mind lol

Well a lot of us have been noticing that if you torque parts store gaskets to OEM specs, they balloon out, but the OEM one's don't. Can you return the gasket? I did when mine blew, I had a 1 year warranty.

Meh, $20 is $20. Could go toward the OEM gasket purchase.

Yeah but the hassle of finding the receipt? Plus i wouldn't feel right since it might have been our fault anyways.

Regardless so thats what you think the problem is?

Yeah, because the pcv and the vent connected to the intake pipe will evacuate most, if not all, of the pressure in the crankcase. I had the same issue, replaced the gasket and didn't use a torque wrench. There's been talk that the OEM gasket is a harder material and holds up to being torqued to 10ft/lbs.

I have a felpro gasket on my F22A6 DD and on my H22A4 I'm building. It took 10lbs of torque and is not leaking.

I have not ran the H22A4, but the gasket installed flush and did not buldge for what it's worth.

If you've used sealant excessively all the way around the pan, the sealant would work as grease on the gasket, making it walk off from sealing surface and causing oil leak.

If there was oil on the surfaces, it, too, may make the gasket to slide off.

Make sure the surfaces are clean and dry before new gasket installation. Use sealant only in places specified by the manual.

                      Just a thought,,,,

I'm pretty sure we didn't use any sealant at all, i hate that shit

We did take brake clean and clean out the whole oil pan inside and out as well as the underside of the engine.
