    5spd & control modules????

Well I'm getting back into the CB! So I have a friends that's selling it and she said the only problem is that 5th gear is hard to go in and it's sluggish getting up to speed. Supposedly a mechanic told her that the control switch needs to be replaced but my question is since its a 5spd does it have a control switch. I always thought that the A/T had a control switch??

Plus for $500 I can't complain due to having lots of spare parts for the CB ever since my CD7 went down this week.

By control switch I'm assuming the unknowing mechanic is talking about a TCU. If so, then you're right and the 5-speed has no computer-aided controls that could fail related to the transmission.

There's a pertty good chance that the 5th gear is shot but the sluggish feeling is likely something to do with the engine.

Figured that. I was already thinking that the 5th was no good and was already planning on doing a tranny swap. I won't know full detail about it until I drive it later on today. I'll keep you posted on my finds!

So I got a a chance to look at it and its not 5spd, it's auto. 1st doesn't engage and 4th engages on and off. You have to manually shift it to go. So with that said, does it sound like a control module or trans is shot to hell??

          What year is the CB7?
If you can shift the gears in manually, sound like TCU is your problem.

Sounds like the TCU to me that is where I would start.
