That is the drain plug, the fill plug is located higher up on the side of the tranny. Be sure to spray some PB blaster or something on the drain bolt. When I tried to change my fluid the socket wrench tore through the bolt head, so I had to attempt to drain the tranny through the fill plug by jacking up the car. Not fun!-Jay

Get that nasty ass old oil out of there there is no use for it. than run oil thru it and rotate the wheels so you can get in the gears. install the lower plug and fill till it starts to come out the top hole. let it drain to a small little stream rotate tires install plug and you in. I put synthetic 5-30 castrol in my tranny and it is like butter...

just a quick question, when u guys replace washer and or screw for stuff like oil, radiator, trans, etc., exactly what kind should it be? like for the trans, the metal or hard plastic washer?
im gonna do the auto trans flush so just curious. i dotn wanan replace it w/ a washer that miht cause leakage.
i tried aftermarket, and believe some of them just can't secure nicely and cause drips. like my oil.hahahahah

The reason you keep some of the Tranny fluid and dont do a COMPLETE flush is because over time the vescoicty (sp) changes and if you revert completly back to original vescosity the tranny will go out on you. A/T Only.
I've had this confirmed by a number of Honda Mechanics as well as morons who have no clue what they are talkign about If you have a M/T you should be able to do a full flush. Only like 2 qts anyways.2DAO (2 Door Accord Owner)

so basically, drain it and add new, dont worry about getting through the gears and making sure all the crap is out, just pull the plug and then fill it back up..?..

tranny help
if it is an auto the drain is a 3/8 ratchet on the bottom and to fill is through the dip stick on the top side it takes three quarts. manuals either a 3/8 ratchet on the bottom one and a 17mm on the top one which is on the side but maybe 3 inches higher and maybe 1 inch back near the differential. let me know
