EGR... Carb cleaner.?

ok... i plan on cleaning my EGR ports this week...

i found some....

"carburetor & choke assembly cleaner" in my garage...

it states...

- removes dirt, grease & oil from EXTERNAL linkages, automatic choke, & PCV valves

it doesn't say anything about "carbon" removal....

i'm wondering if this is the Same shit you guys state as "Carb Cleaner" when talking about cleaning the EGR ports. i don't wanna use the wrong shit, and i got a mixed feeling about this stuff. haha

Sounds like an external use solvent, and sounds bad to put into your engine! You need to pick up a bottle of throttle body cleaner that is sensor safe for fuel injected engines.. Although it's commonly referred to as carb cleaner, you want to get the one made for our EFI engines. It's worth spending a couple bucks on, rather than taking a silly chance.

Generic carb cleaner, as long as its combustible it won't matter. I got the cheapest bottle I could find at walmart.

ok so i picked up some "throttle body cleaner"

"cleans and lubricates throttle valve body and external linkages"

blah blah blah..


so this should be the right stuff for cleaning the EGR's ?
