    It Lives!

I just got the car started tonight and everything was good at first, the thermostat finally opened up, the coolant was burped, but then later it started to have a looping idle, then the valves started to tick. I think it was the valves ticking, im not 100% positive though.

I have a video i'm going to upload to y tube.

The timing is good, everything ran great when I first started it... It sounded beastly when I revved it up, powerful.

Here is the video. The first part is the engine running for about 20 seconds. This was after I first started it when it started to tick...

The 2nd part is a commentary and me starting it,

Well then my questions are about the looping idle and the 'ticking' of what I think are the valves.

Ticking is either detonation or loose valves, and I doubt there is detonation going on at idle. The is idle is probable due to air in the coolant system.

The system was burped out with the rad. cap off and the hoses pinched. It took a whole lot of coolant, about 2 gallons. We waited until the bubbles stopped.

Do I still need to open the bleed bolt though?

I'm gonna adjust the valves again, maybe that will fix that ticking.

Yes, you have to open the bleeder valve AND set your heater to HOT. Doing this opens the entire cooling system and allows for proper venting.

So I do this when the car is on and with the rad. cap OFF? I pour coolant in right?

I think the valve sound was caused by a high idle. The idle in the video was like 900-1000 rpms. I need to adjust the screw, i messed with it last time.

No, car off, radiator open, bleeder valve open, and climate control set to HOT.

Okay, i'll pour in coolant until the bleeder valve stops bubbling...

Something's not quite right. When I pour it in the fluid doesn't come out of the bleed bolt in a strong stream, its very weak. It doesn't even shoot out at all.

I remember when I did it last the stream on the bolt was strong, shooting out an inch or more. What could be wrong, a clog in the system? Maybe I should drain it and refill it, what do you think?

If it helps, there was oily foam in the coolant when I checked the cap.

Are you using a radiator funnel? Like so:

It locks into the radiator opening and allows the system to kind of be put under pressure.
