    cluster lights/ ignition.

ok so im driving along and then all of the sudden i notice that i have nothing in the cluster working. no tach, speedo, temp, fuel, odometer nothing. car is running fine. also windows dont work and neither does the defrost.

the blinkers, lights, hazards all work.

heres what ive done. checked fuses by pulling them all out and looking at them. there all good. kick panel and under hood fuses are all good.

heres what ive noticed, ill put the key in and with the door open it does the ding ding ding over and over thing like its supposed to, i turn the key to the position before the turn to start and i still have the ding ding ding over and over and only the battery light is coming on.

whats supposed to happen when you turn the key to the final position before start with the door open is three long dings then nothing ( i think 3,) well its not supposed to constantly ding ding ding.

im wondering if i have a bad ignition switch or if it could be the key cylinder.

has anybody else had this problem or have an idea i can try. or agrees that its the ignition or cylinder? i appreciate the advice.

So does the car start and run?
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

      yes
      EDIT:
ive taken the ignition switch off and turned that with a screw driver and it is doing the same thing with no change, so this is leading me to believe that the key cylinder is faulty or one of the electrical things attached to it is faulty sry i do not know the tech term.

also do the accessory lights and like the engine light and oil light turn on via the ignition switch, i dont think they do but i could be wrong. the haynes manual sucks for this kinda problem

ok so in the mean time, heres what ive done. i believe its something related to these switches or relays not really sure, but there attached to the cylinder key lock. i also know that there is something that goes in the gold lookin piece, i just took it out for the picture.

but this is what its doing and is still starting. only showing the bat light but none of the other ones. none of the gauges are working.

as for the ding ding ding thing, even in my dads truck when the key is turned to the final position and the ding ding ding stopped.

Get a volt meter (or a test light) and test each of the lines on the ignition switch. All should have power when the car is running except the black/white (starter).

If you dont have power to one wire then that will be your issue. And its going to be the switch. To confirm jump a wire from the white wire (constant 12v) and see if things come on.

When you try and operate your windows, do you hear a click under the dash?
