    CV Boot + Axle Advise

    Need advice from experts:

I have my right outer CV boot leaking and managed to split the left outer.

    1. I now have the option of replacing the Axle (remanufactured). Carries 1yr warranty

    2. Or get the CV Boots (right and left) replaced from the dealer (twice the cost).

    This is a 93 Accord.

The question is - Is rebuilt parts a good option or is this a short term solution?

    Appreciate any input!

    Thanks

    Thanks! That was quick.

I have a quote for Rebuilt axles ($220 - 2 #), to be done at the shop.

    Is this a reasonable price?

Can't do any maintenance work in apartment communities here. DIY is out.

      Thanks Bud. Appreciate it!

to tell you honostly, i work at the dealer and axles are also reman.(at the dealer) honda just have a better quality axle but expensive. i would go to any aftermarket source such as auto zone and buyk lifetime warranty axles for about 70-80 bucks.

yeah I got my axles replaced brand new for like 120 each with lifetime warranty, after the cost of labor you're kind of better off just getting new axles.

BTW, I have some cv boots I bought online, brand new in the box, I think I only got 2, when there should be 4 needed...anyway if anyone wants new cv boots in the box I got em..

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

yeah i had to buy new axles...i just bought new axles, because i didnt wanna do remanufactored or anything, because it seemed like kind of a bother...i had my right axle done for 208 w/tax which i thought was pretty good.

i just bought new axles. to pack the grease in those boots is a biotch IMO...but what do i know i want to put in an h22 to go fast but wont repair a cracked cv boot! but as for the aprtment issue...you dont got a homie that lives at home or something or a friend with a home where you can go do this. if you are not very mechanically inclined itll prolly take you two-three hours with hand tools, power tools even faster. but your orig quote sounds pretty decent. reman. is bascially new like what was said before they replace parts that are obviously worn and you get to give yours back for a core charge discount!!!
