At engine speeds below 3500 rpm, the solenoid in the black box is energized to allow vacuum to the round vacuum motor on the lower duct. This pulls a plate up that blocks the duct, but opens it (on the air cleaner side) to the resonator to reduce intake noise. If you have a stock intake and want to leave the valve open all the time (so both ducts feed the filter box all the time), simply remove the vacuum line from the solenoid box and plug it (or remove the line and cap the port at the intake plenum).
not exactly....doing a dull grey on the bay itself....thinking of going copper on the short ram, heat shield, and strut bar. definitely gonna high heat white the valve cover and sharpie it.
Duplicolor makes a high heat burnt copper metallic, I used it on my block and roll cage. Make sure you clear over it and it looks dope. Or use their 3 stage copper plated paint, never seen it in person only on tv. Looks pretty cool.
