    How do I clean solenoids?

I often see the simple solution to many problems regarding transmissions and other large parts is cleaning the solenoids. I know where they are, but my question is : how do I remove them? Is it some sort of twisting motion? Are there bolts I'm not seeing?

There are bolts holding the things in. I think 3 for each. All I did was spray some brake cleaner in the screen thingy. i think it did helped it but idk.

The best cleaner I have used on the screens is carb. cleaner. It will clean almost any thing in the bay or that is oily.

My auto tranny shifts fine right now but after 22 years, I would imagine the solenoids are dirty. I want to clean them, but what are the chances of the gasket getting damage once they are taken off? I live in SoCal and the car is in good shape, all of the areas I have service, the o rings and gaskets are good.
        Thanks.

Its strange but when I took the solenoids off my trans the gaskets actually got better. I know why tho, its b/c that ATF conditioner i used, it refreshes gaskets.

Does the dealer sell those separately? Or any auto store would have them? I hate having to go to the dealer to pay for the order then back to pick them up.
