i finished doing a a1 to a6 head swap. the motor runs, rough, but i i cant seem to get any power when i put load on the motor. it also starts rough. takes like 4-5x or more to get it started. am i having a timing and ignition issue? i still havent installed the pt6 ecu yet. i just wanted to make sure i could get the motor to run before i put it in. the alt is also still disconnected but i didnt figure that would be in issue. any advice where i should start with fixing the problem(s)?

I don't think the A6 ECU is hurting you. The motors aren't much different at idle.
*edit*
Hmm.. when you checked the timing, did you change anything?RIP 4/23/12...lets not forget, the 88" Z31 turbo, are my dailys

Did you install the dizzy correctly, not 180* out?
There are too many variables.
Did the head you fitted come off a running engine?
Have you done a compression test?
Were any valves bent before you fitted the head?
Did you fit a new head gasket?
Did you adjust the valve clearances?
As above, your timing sounds off.

Was your cam pulley pointing up with the two marks flat to the head?

when you crank it, does it sound like all cylinder are holding compression?
