    90-91 Cap & Wires Same as 92-93?

When looking online I always see that distributor caps and wires for 90-91 cb's arent compatible with 93. Why? Arent f22a1 engines all the same? And on another note, what might be causing a lag in my acceleration? Give it gas and nothing for a second... then it picks up. Rough idle too. Related to bad wires cap?

Rather, wires for cb7's arent compatible with cd5 and up accords. Will wires for later accord work?

Go look at your distributor, if it has 4 spark plug wires coming out of it then it is an internal coil. If it has 5 then it's an external coil. This is where they differ.

I would definitely say that the ignition can play a role in throttle response and rough idle, but there are many other causes too.

Check out the below link if you would like to switch from internal to external.

I see. Thanks for that. So should a cap & wires from, say, a 94 fit with a 92-93 cb?

You know , you might wanna get your oxygen sensor tested. Commonly oxygen sensors gives you a CEL when they go out. However , when they are starting to go out they won't be giving you a CEL. A perfect example is on my Civic , I have the lag on acceleration , I pulled out my o2 sensor and it was dirty as hell. I managed to acquire a Denso sensor for $1 off ebay (+ $33 in eBay bucks = win). After that , the lag went away and it was running way better than before.

To answer you specific question , NO , it won't fit.

Also , 90-91 are internal coils whilst 92-93 are external coils.

Why would it matter? It's not like it's difficult to find the proper distributor cap...

From my experience, many caps are the same between cars. My 94 JDM H22 has a distributor with an internal coil. A 90-91 Accord cap works just fine on that.

Also, don't ask multiple questions in a thread unless they're very clearly related. It's irritating.

I see. I'll pull my o2 sensor and check it out. Seems like external caps for cb's are a bit more scarce (and expensive). But no matter. I have my answer. Thanks.

Is your check engine light on? A bad o2 sensor will usually throw a code 41 or 43 when it fails. Not always, but usually. Replace the o2 sensor with Denso or NTK only. No Bosch.

the external coils come on 9293 and the internal coils come on 9091. They're not more scarce or anything. Just get the right cap for your year and you'll be fine.

The lag could be anything...any oil in your spark plug wells? That could be limiting the spark and causing your lag in accel.
