    H22 no power and surging idle.

    ok here is the situation:

    about a month ago i replaced the intake manifold gasket and changed the plugs.

    over the period of a month i have had an exhaust leak at the flex pipe that has gotten worse and worse never affected the engine performance.

    the other day i took my car to a shop to get a estimate on fixing the exhaust, as i was leaving my exhaust scraped once again and since then the car has sounded like it has a missfire and has zero power (h22)

    only check engine light i get is egr which wont go away. cleaned it and reset ecu. Vtec still kicks as usually just with alot less power. feels weaker than an f22.

    i had the exhaust welded up today thinking the o2 may have been associated with the problem due to it being so close to the leak.. still i have No power.

    the only to describe it is this... shuddering, hesitation, sounds like missfire.

    in the past i had an issue when the car would sit for a little while then when i would start it up again a few hours later i would go to accelerate and it would hesitate like it wasnt getting enough fuel if i opened up the gas it would come out of it and drive perfectly fine for the rest of the drive. <--- could this problem be my issue as it may have gotten worse over time and now its basically in a nutshell acting this way ALL the time

    today i checked my plugs (changed again)
    cleaned egr (cel still on for it)
    checked for vacume leaks

    tomarrow my plan is to take off the dizzy cap and inspect

    i may be WAY off but could this be syptoms of a failing fuel pump? h22 has been in the car with oem pump for 2 years now.. the chassis has 226,xxx miles on it.

    uhmmm..... If you keep cleaning the same EGR and it won't go away, then maybe you have a bad EGR valve. Rocket science.......my forte'

    And that CEL is keeping your H in limp mode, which does exactly what your experiencing. Fix the EGR CEL first.

      planned on it tomarrow but i also noticed that my downpipe is slightly flattened on the bottom most part and im sure the oil pan could be as well.

        So's mine, the power loss from the flattened pipe will be negligible, unless your H is highly modified.

            also you claim the engine is in limp mode but then vtec wouldnt kick.. it clearly does as i can still hear it crossover.

              Are you sure your not hearing the secondaries opening up? And IIRC an EGR code will cause limp mode, but I could be wrong.

                UPDATE the surging idle seizes to exist when i unplug the vacuum line to the egr valve cel obviously still on for egr and still in "limp mode" with no power. will try cleaning the egr valve, also if i have to get one from the jy im supposed to use a f22 egr right? (h22)motor.

                  If you used the F22 harness then use a F22 EGR, if you used the H22 harness use the H22 EGR.

                    EGR CEl would not put it in limp mode, i had EGR cel on for a month or so and sudden it did go away, no difference in power, no limp mode. Check:
                    -Color of the sparkplugs. Nut brown is best. Black- to much fuel/bad burning. White- to little fuel.
                    -Change EGR
                    -Fuel pressure.
                    -Ignition (rotor/cap).
                    -Timing (timing belt, timing light).
                    -compression.
                    -False air.

                      at WOT it chokes.

                      i have another update i decided to pour a bit of seafoam into the booster line and it did not help the only thing it did was show me that i have a cracked exhaust manifold (stock mani and downpipe) keep in mind my car sits very low dp sits about an inch an a half off the ground.

                      would that leak cause me to have no power. also it revs past 6500 so its not in limp mode.

                      i just ordered a megan header and dp also plan on raising the car an inch when i install those things.

                        false air would make the fuel/air mixture wrong and make it surge and behave unormal, what color is your spark plugs?

                          normal color (tan) except cylinder number 3 wish is black and when i pull that plug wire their is no change in idle.. missfire on #3 but why would it be black then

                          edit i remembered one of my injectors does not have the "filter" on the rail side of it could that cause the cylinder to not fire?

                            ok so i got some NEWS

                            first thing i did tonight was compression tested all 4 cylinders all around 200 each.

                            next i pulled cylinder number 3's injector and swapped it with number 4 put everything back together. fire it up, then pull number 3 plug wire and its still not firing.

                            im getting spark, from the dizzy and my plugs are good brand new wires also.

                            i also checked my cap and rotor and they check out good.

                            i used a test light with the key on to see if i had power to my wires on cylinder 3's injector. i do have power.

                            i checked the resistance of my injectors they were around 2.3

                            at this point im not sure what direction to go.

                            my possible problems

                            - egr needs cleaned (would i need to pull the intake manifold to do this?
                            - maybe? a vacuum line problem (ive sprayed carb cleaner all over with the motor running and nothing happens)
                            - problem with the wiring somewhere
                            - bad ECU

                            i would like to add that i have ordered a phearable.net ecu as it was in my plans. so if it is my ecu i will have another one soon.

                            what do you guys think i should do at this point?

                              Update im at work pn break and decided to check my codes now i have 12 along with 17 (vss) would that cause missfire
