there is something wrong with the front end of my car and i cannot figure it out for the life of me. there is a strange...almost knocking noise comming from what i believe is something in the steering. it happens when im going straight and it gets a little bit worse when i turn the wheel very slightly to the right. Its not very loud and its definitly not a CV clicking noise, its more like something is knocking. i dont THINK its an engine problem because i can really feel it in my steering wheel.

also, at around 60mph the steering wheel shakes pretty bad until you get to 70ish and it smooths out.

please help

hmmm never thought of that. it has been making some pretty funky noises lately. like squeaking when i turn the wheel and such...

also, everytime i start my car the belts SCREECH extreamly loud. this also happens when i downshift to 2nd to take a turn

Maybe your PS pump is seizing. Which would explain why the belt is screeching, but I dunno what the knocking sound could be, thats kinda wierd

yah. i really wish i could figure it out. i guess ill have to wait till it gets worse so i can pinpoint the problem better. it just started today.

but the screetching of the belts has been going on for a while

i was just reading around the site a little...I saw a few people mention tire wear as making some pretty weird noises and steering wheel shaking. mabye this is the problem..my tires are completly SHOT, probably due to the fact that i dont have a camber kit and i have NEVER got this car aligned. i dont know if that will cause the faint knocking sound i hear though

could the screeching sound be from a loose alternator belt???? my car used to screech when it started up, and i just tightened the belt up and it went away...

get new tires and have it aligned, and they will let you know if you have any shot bearings and shit.

wheels/tires are unbalanced..

i took the wheels off today. the side of the tire that you can see when they are on the car is worn a bit...but the inside that faces the tranny is completely bald! iv never seen anything so bad in my life. i hope its just the tires.

i have a new way to describe the noise...it almost sounds like i have a flat tire, only its not as loud. but its the same rythem and general sound.

also, while the car was in the air i spun the wheels and i could hear something clunking, but it was to faint so i couldnt pinpoint where it was comming from
