    Crazy electrical problem!!!!

    Well it started about a week ago. At first my fans were coming on unless I turned my a/c on. Weird part is that my temperature gauge would jump from normal all the way to past red. SO I went through the steps of testing my radiator fan switch and changed out my thermostat. Still same thing. None of my connections in the engine bay were lose. All of my grounds are new and clean. Next thing I noticed is that my lights were dimming. ALL MY LIGHTS, head lights and interior lights. It was like my car was running on the battery only. So I pulled over and check my alternator. It's putting out 14.32 volts. My lights were still LOW. By the time I made home the rpm gauge dropped to zero. I turned them off and the rpm went right back to normal but the lights were still dim. Voltage still normal. I thought maybe the fuse box/eld might be messed up somehow so I changed it out with all new fuses and and relays. Right now I am stumped and I need my car back. Does anyone have some advice or been through something like this?

    check and make sure the temperature sending unit, its under the distributor (one wire sensor screwed into the cyl. head), is not broken.

    When I did the headgasket on my F22, I accidentally hit this and the temp gauge went crazy since it was broken.

    Also on the driverside inner fender, there's some bulb shaped relays that control the fans (near the windshield washer reservoir) make sure they're all good, that can also cause a fluctuation in the temperature reading if not in proper working condition.

      I checked all of the sensors and switches. They are all new. I think there is a short or something between my engine bay fuse box and the interior wiring harness. With the engine off I am getting over 12 volts in the engine bay and inside the car. But as soon as I start the car the interior is only getting at best 9-10 volts. I had Advance test my system and my alternator, battery, and starter all pass with flying colors.

        I found the source of the problem. The neutral safety switch and the integrate control unit.

          man im glad you got it fix..never though that would be the reason i was actually going to ask if your had a shortage. but clearly i was way off
