Tips on replacing drivers side axle shaft?

I will be replacing my drivers side axle shaft in the near future because the cv boot is torn. Are there any tips you would recommend? Is there a certain brand you would suggest I get so this doesn't happen again? I have heard that Autozone has a lifetime warranty ,but the quality isn't good.

    Thanks

Dont get a remanufactured axle. Go to o'reilly's and get the master pro select. Its like $80 and its brand new so no core change.
All the remanufactured ones suck and there boots tare, I mean do you really wants someones old shit on your car?
And smash the thing on the axle nut so It cant come off.

        no lol

between the lower balljoint and axle nut thats probably 15-30 minutes right there depending on how stuck together things are

Getting the axle out of the transmission or half shaft is a whole nother bit of fun if your car decides to be an asshole.

i did one in the rain in about 15-20min. one thing remember to use the jack to push the LCA up to get the axle out. if you don't the axle will get stuck at the shock fork.

My hub was seized on the axle, and it was a BITCH to change.

Ended up pulling the entire knuckle, removed axle from tranny and had machine shop press the old axle off. No amount of beating with sledge, torching or fluids were getting my D side to move. Nothing.

Im a big man too. Been working on cars my whole life.

Like tippey said, its easy unless your car decides to be an asshole.
