    Tranny won't go into gear

Okay, I am kinda stumped by this issue now considering what I have tried.

Tranny will not go into gear while the engine is running. It will go into gear when off.

    Slave cylinder moves normally.

Took the transmission out and the release bearing is okay, as well as the clutch. No broken springs or loose bolts jamming stuff up.

    Any ideas are appreciated.

All of them? It won't go into 1st or reverse.

Also of note, I JUST had this tranny taken apart and both mainshaft bearings replaced.

not sure. if it goes into 2-3-4-5 then it might be something else.

if you go 2-3-4-5 then try to put it in R does it work?

To be honest, I didn't really try to get it in those gears. My main concerns were just moving the car, so 1st and reverse, and with the pedal to the floor it was impossible to engage those with the motor running.

With it off it can be placed in any gear.

Have you tried putting it in gear while its off, then starting it?

did you check to see of there was anything catching on the linkage where the cables connect to the trans-axle?

                    I had this

I had this exact issue with my h22 swap when I got it.

The problem was that the pressure plate had clutch material in it and was not fully releasing the clutch.

I could get it in and out of every gear with the engine off, but when on, I had nothing.

The clutch was the one that came with the motor form HMO and was a stage one organic exedy.

I too thought it might be something else, but even with a pry bar on the clutch fork I could not get into gear with the engine on.

^This could be it. I have a Competition Stage 3 clutch which looks like this:

This bugger is stiff and chatters under low rpm takeoff. I need to go inspect that now.

Yeah, just did a pretty through inspection of the pressure plate and clutch disc. Nothing appears to be missing from either, and it does not look like anything is lodged in the pressure plate either.

Try second, third, fourth, and fifth with the car running. If it goes into those gears, I have your solution.

That's not going to happen right now as the tranny is sitting on the ground out of the car.

Go ahead with the suggestion though.
