    What in the hell...

You can't use transmission fluid to clean your motor!!! Seafoam is what you would need.

Basically you disconnect your PCV hose (on top of the valve cover and it's connected to the intake manifold). While the motor is running you stick the hose in the can sucking about 1/2 the contents.

Shut the car off and let it sit for about 10 minutes..start it back up afterwards and you'll see smoke pour out of the exhaust. Don't panic though..it's just carbon being burned up.

Change the spark plugs and you'll be good to go.

You shouldnt post like this, especially when you dont have a clue what your talking about. Try google if you dont believe me, and dont roast on people like that-that shit doesnt bring anything positive to our forum.

            to the op;

Yes, tranny fluid is a detergent and can be added to your oil. Run it for a tank of gas, and change your oil. Dont run it for more then 500 miles as it will start to foam, but there is 0 risk and yes it does clean and remove carbon buildup in the engine.

Great idea. Sea foam is better, but tranny fluid works very well and is considerably cheaper.

I do this every 3rd oil change, and have been doing so since the early 90's. Its very common.

Just make sure that when you add it, theres room for it. You dont want to overfill the motor with fluids.

Yes you can. ATF has a lot of cleaning agents in it. Just don't use very much, maybe 1 quart or so. Another thing some people do is after draining the oil, you can pour kerosene through the engine (NOT RUNNING) and then once that's all drained out you rinse it out with some clean oil, then change your filter and fill it up normally. Quite an expensive oil change.

Uh, actually u can. It says right on the bottle it can be added to the crankcase (along with the intake and gas tank also). Just be sure to change your oil after u do it. I would probably do Seafoam rather than tranny fluid just because its designed specifically for that.

You absolutely can. Don't leave it in the oil for too long though. I usually just dump like a third of the bottle of seafoam into the oil, a third to a half into the vac line, and the rest into the gas tank. Do it 500 miles or so before the your oil change, stuff will come out black as coal.

And before anyone says that Seafoam will make your engine die, it will only cause problems if your engine was held together with dirt to start with.

Seafoam, or other products designed to clean an engine, would be better than ATF. ATF DOES work, however.

I'm sure you've done whatever you wanted to do by now, as this is 2 days late... but how far did you intend to drive on it? Anything added to your oil to clean the engine shouldn't remain in there for very long.
Furthermore, many people have recommended changing the oil TWICE after adding seafoam. Basically, add the seafoam, run the engine for a few miles, change the oil, run it again for a few miles, change the oil AGAIN. This ensures all the seafoam is out of the engine, as it is known to be quite damaging to seals and such.

I have never done the double change myself. I've added seafoam to my engine only once, many years ago... and like an idiot, I left it in there for about 4,000 miles.
No harm seems to have come of it, thankfully. I don't suggest it, and I'm not saying it won't do any damage... I just got lucky!

But yes... ATF is an oldschool method. It does work, but there are better products designed for the purpose of cleaning your engine.
It's like cleaning your battery terminals with a can of Coke. Sure, it'll get the crap off of them, but it's not exactly the best thing to use!

And Henry... before you belittle someone, try doing a little research first. People don't come here to be called stupid for asking questions, especially when there's actually a good reason for asking!
