EGR Clean-out and New Sea Foam Spray

Alright my car was dying alot and was smelling like fuel at red lights. So i'm thinking its cat or egr making it smell and stall out, i've seen this new sea foam before so I picked one up went home pulled the EGR cleaned it out the best I could and sprayed the sea foam into the EGR holes (the spray comes with a long flexable tube) let it sit for awhile put it back together and went for a spin. It always feels better after a foam job.

I've gotten good results by removing the intake hose and blasting it into the two holes in the throttlebody that go to the IACV, that might help you at idle. Idk, tell us how it turns out.

Although it sounds like you're either running insanely rich OR your timing is as far off as it can possibly be. Pull a spark plug see what it tells you. If you're not good at reading them, post a pic

Deep Creep and the spray are for different things. The Deep Creep is used like WD-40 and other looseners/lubricaters, except that Deep Creep works better on hot applications. By this I mean you can heat up the bolt to red hot and spray Deep Creep onto the bolt and it actually gets sucked into the threads. Try this with WD-40 and it just burns up and is lost. Deep Creep is good shit, I used in on my exhaust bolts after I drove it around hard to get it nice and hot, bolts came right off!

I realized a long time ago that you can't do EGR ports the right way unless you take the whole manifold off and clean it with oven cleaner and alot of carb cleaner. At least thats how it was on my CRX HF. Then after that you shouldn't have to worry about it for a while.

Thats what i'm hoping, cause it feels like its running and idling better now.

Alright just filled up got 21mpg on that last tank of gas lets see if that sea foam job did anything.

Alright so the last tank I had no chande in MPG still at 21mpg, but overall the engine felt much better. I'm gonna do it again but this time i'm gonna put alot more in than I did last time.

I have used it and liked it, however I dont think it will magically clean an egr system anywhere near as good as taking shit apart and using some elbow grease to get er done.


Carb cleaner, wire brush, dremel.

Thats what I use. Dremel for the holes, some people use a drill/bit. Honestly, I would too if the build up was deep enough.

Carb cleaner, about 3 cans on hand for this job. Wire brush, well thats pretty obvious right? Use it to scrub anything you can touch with it. Also, I use a shop vac and keep it running sucking shit out as I dremel.


Sea foam is awesome stuff, but I doubt, I really doubt it would clean an egr system to my satisfaction.
