    f me...same problem...glad i found this thread...

car had crazy idle up and down and would sometimes turn off when at a stop...accelerating was an adventure to get on the highway because if felt like it would never move... changed my plugs at 60k mi because of this... two of the wells had oil in them...plugs were basically drenched...

car ran great up until 65k miles and same thing... removed the plugs, same 2 were soaked...

getting a cover gasket now at pepboys...that's about as much i can do right now... (just the 4 screws on the cover right?)

never have taken apart the entire engine to get to those 4 rings so hopefully those are ok...

    sucks.

not as bad as i thought.... yep, replaced the gasket and the four rings... soaked up what i could before putting the cover back on...

been running for 3 days now without a problem... nice to have it idle normally when at a stop...

and yes, low mileage... actually it's 66k miles...no rust too... had it painted at midas 9mos ago (yes, i know but it actually is holding the color just fine)

am probably going to dump on ebay soon... car is very good shape...tune up was done by a mech at 60k mi, a/c r system was converted, new battery, tires have only 20k miles on them......but, i am driving to work 55mi each way so i need something a bit newer..just in case

probably costing you more in fuel because you're not transferring as much spark to the actual plug. Takes all of an hour to do.

Are all of you guys having this problem with the number 2 and 3 spark plug wells? I just replaced all of the seals maybe 1,500mi ago and they are even worse now. I'm wondering if maybe the head could be slightly cracked or something? i removed the plug wires and turned the engine over by hand and it made a gurgling sound and oil was popping up from the 2 & 3 holes when they were at (what I would guess to be) tdc. It was popping as far as the fuel rail, maybe a little bit farther. I'm going to buy new plugs today, and hope that maybe the plugs themselves just didn't seal right... this is quite a bummer, i love this little car

I replaced the lower seals this weekend...man those seals were so stiff. They broke into small pieces pulling them off.

You removed the valvetrain, cleaned the surfaces, replaced the o-rings and VC gasket? If done properly, I can't imagine what would cause it to happen other than a pretty glaring defect. New plugs aren't gonna help, there's not enough oil in the cylinders to push around the plugs and fill the tubes.

too tight maybe ? I've had felpro one from napa for about 8k and they're still good ,, overheating the engine causes them togo bad faster and of course just normal wear too

I'm not his bff or anything, but i do trust his advice on the subject. The way those seals are held in kinda seems like oil is supposed to be able to creep in there. I don't know why else they would have that unevenness (those little lips that hold them in) where they attach on the bottom of the rocker assembly.

The tube seal should be one of the first maitanance things done to a cb. Its not hard to do, and don't forget about the valve lash.

Oh and I wasted my day just like that !! I thought the o-rings should come pinched on the 4 corners by design and the sales man kept telling me this is the whole set !! it includes everything (gasket, lower seals and cover seals ) and I kept telling him, the lower seals are not pinched on the corners.

Damn it I made a fool of myself and returned home with nothing, so the lower seals original from honda have the part number: 91301-PT0-003, if I don't find them can I get non-honda oem ?! or shouldn't I ? I really need to get this done as quickly as possible.
