    Oil in spark plug wells...again.

Well, this will be the third time in about 10k miles that I've found oil in the spark plug wells. I've changed the gaskets/seals everytime of course. Is there something else that can be done to avoid this issue? This is starting to get a little inconvenient at this point...

Do you tightened the valve covers screws pretty tight?

If not there is 2nd set of gaskets that are under the camshafts that might be worn out and causing oil to leak in the spark plugs.

Maybe I'll have to give changing that one a try. Anyone have a part number for the gasket(s) under the camshaft?

I forgot to add that when tightened the screws you have crisscross them to spread out the force evenly.

They're under the rocker assembly. If you only do half the job, expect to get half the results. The lower seals come with the valve cover gasket kit. The little ones that look like o-rings.
            Do it right.
            Do it once.

We're in the studio, stay tuned.----------(click)-------->

I really never looked into it enough to realize I was only tackling half of the issue.

yeah you have to remove the entire rocker arm assembly to get those 4 o-ring type seals, thats your problem right there.

here's some pics of when I did them and yours probably will look just like this...all hard and petrified.

They go under neath that ^^

Here's the Honda part number for them...they're about 3 bucks a pop at the dealer and well worth it, made better than Felpro ones which will probably crap out on you in 25-30k miles

Those seals always come with a note that says to install dry only. Eric the car guy says that all you do when you rtv those seals is make a mess and get it out of there. I'm not his bff or anything, but i do trust his advice on the subject. The way those seals are held in kinda seems like oil is supposed to be able to creep in there. I don't know why else they would have that unevenness (those little lips that hold them in) where they attach on the bottom of the rocker assembly.

I also second this as well, I had a f22 with same issue and always best to use the rubber gaskets not that filler crap it can be a mess in the long run.

Use OEM seals, FelPro does not last as long.

Do not use RTV/silicone on the valvetrain seals.

Sounds like the OP needs to get a service manual to perform the job properly and not blame the car or Honda for their error.

My neighbour has been experiencing the same problem on his 93 EX. His tubes would get oil in them, so he bought the gasket kit through Honda and replaced all of the seals and gaskets.

He's still getting some oil in there, and is causing the car not to start sometimes.

Perhaps he hasn't installed them correctly?
