Help! Trouble starting

About half of the time when i first try and start the engine it turns only for like a second then dies, the other half of the time it turns on fine. If it does die on me then i have to wait at least 8 minutes before trying to start it again otherwise it won't start at all. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have a 93 ex accord automatic

from a cold start?

or after its warmed up?

from a cold start, it doesn't turn off after it starts. Also it'll start and the rpm will go up to 2 then down until it stops. Sometimes if i hit the gas some i can prevent it from stopping but not always.

hey could be ur ignition switch....which is attatched to the steering column...i had the same issues that u described...i replaced mine and i havent had troubles since then. u might wanna check urs out!

Main relay. Resolder it.

thats why i was asking, main relays USUALLY do it when its warmed up, or on a really hot day, after its been driving and you stop to get gas and it wont start, but then after a few mins it starts right up.

could be as simple as spark plugs or wires, rotor cap. eh

its kinda hard to diagnose with out being there.

IGNITION SWITCH...check ur ignition switch my car was acting like urs did! it would turn on then die really quick! sometimes it wouldnt even start sometimes it would after a couple minutes....this being from cold starts...ten one day it wouldnt stay on...just go up to 1500rpm and die really quick! so i replaced my ignition switch and SUPRISE!!! all better!! -good luck man!
