    Automatic: Fluid replaced with DW-1

My car has about 216,100 miles on it. Today, I picked up seven quarts of Honda DW-1 and proceeded to flush the transmission with new fluid as per the instructions in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsdPAadc9fY

Seems to be a well-received video around here, at least from what I've read.

As a little background on my trans, it had been slipping (only when warmed up) when warmed up for a few months now. The condition was such that upon acceleration from a stop, there would be a split second of shuddering and hesitation from the trans that stopped as the car started rolling. The first-second shift was soft and the revs hung for a second as the car accelerated. From 40 MPH and upwards, the car had a shudder ranging from faint and barely noticeable to sometimes almost violent. Yesterday, with record high temperatures out and the A/C on, the trans slipped badly in first. It would shudder hard, the revs would hang at about 2000, then suddenly the car would lurch forward.

After changing the fluid from whatever shit was in there to the new Honda DW-1, the transmission still slips in first though not as much. There is no longer any shuddering after initial acceleration. Shift quality is noticeably smoother. The first-second shift still appears to slip, though slightly less. The second-third shift is now a few ticks later, but is not as hard as before. After driving at 70 for a few miles, I drew the conclusion that DW-1 has - so far, at least - improved the condition of my transmission. Just wanted to share my experience as it seems some are still skeptical. Mileage may vary. I also considered using Valvoline Maxlife ATF as I see a few people having no problems with it, but got a cheap deal on the Honda fluid.

i would strongly recommend draining another quart and adding some Lucas Transmission Fix Stop Slip. When i bought my Mazda, the transmission was so dead...wouldn't shift into reverse, would barely shift into 2nd and whined and slipped unbearably, and then after a fluid change it got worse, then after draining one quart of fluid and adding the Lucas the car was running and shifting thru all gears. ended up adding a couple more and that trans lasted me another 3,000mi before crapping out again. just a thought

Are you low on fluid? When mine got low due to a bad cooler line it slipped. After I added atf it stopped.
maybe its low and you dont know how to check it.
      this is how.
Let ur car run then shut it off then 1:30 later check how much is on the dip stick.

I didn't know you check a honda transmission when it's not running...that's odd. Also, they put the dipstick in such a stupid location, maybe that's why. ?!?

It's in such a confined area, i never think to buy gloves so the radiator hose and the a/c lines (i think that's what they go to) always burn the hell out of me. I don't have giant hands or anything either
