Just curious, but if i got rid of my CAI, would my MPG increase or decrease? or not really do much at all?

should incase a tad.. since the stock airbox acts like a restriction compared to ur aftermarket intake.. the motor cant perform at the efficiency it was with the intake.. therefore some mpg is replaced... atleast thats how i see it anyway.. if u do replace the stock airbox... be sure to reset the ecu properly..

More efficient engines get better mpg in comparison. I'd say going from cai to stock would decrease mpg. With my stock air setup I couldn't get passing power at 65+, with the cai you have more passing power at higher speeds, I noticed a slight increase if anything, but you could tell me I made no increase in mpg and I might be inclined to believe you after a while. But I would say that with my cai the engine is more efficient and therefore gets better mpg.
on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

All you guys wondering why it would make sense for more air to give better gas milage, need to learn how an engine runs.. The leaner (less gas, more air) it runs, the more power you get. running rich (more gas less air) = inefficient, incomplete combustion, since there is not enough air (the limiting agent in the reaction) to allow the gas to burn fully. Thats why the car smells more like gas when you first start it up, and that's why more air is better and more efficient. Efficient = less energy loss = better mpg.

This thread has gone into the "fucking stupid" zone. If you want to increase your MPG I would give the engine a tune-up. Particular replacing your fuel filter. You know do the usual spark plugs, cap, rotor, wires, clean your CAI air filter with the correct cleaners and if your engine is an F22A running N/A run 87 octane fuel.
Also be sure to run a good cleaner threw the fuel system.

the colder the air the better because it's more dense, and the more air the better. a ram air will get you more air, but it's warm. the stock box will get you cold air, but not as much. a cai will get you a good ammount of cold air. There's fuel that goes un-used in every igniton of the sparkplugs because there's not enough air. The more air you can get in, the more gas you're going to burn, the more power you're going to see, and the better gas mileage you're going to get. cai>ram>stock
