auto vs. 5 speed manual tranny life

Which has a longer life span? Assume each is used by the same person.

well i'm guessing by the experience with a which ever one you are good with will last much longer, and driving habits will effect that too, like i have a auto it has held up this long and i am happy with it it is about to roll up on 180k with regular checkups and such.

i think an auto tends to last longer rather than 5 speed because of the nature of it. given both are done the required maintenance, the manual exposes itself to human error, u know a misshift here, slip here and there, rev to race, the natural tendency for manual is to pound. what im trying to say is that perhaps ur more open to errors w/ the 5 speed cuz of human's probablity to make errors, but w/ auto its like just pedal and it does its thing, provided u dont do those high rev in N, drop to D thing or shift the auto like stick...

but both are good like was said, i guess there's more things invovled w/ 5 speed, cables, clutch mast/slave, stuff like that, but w/ autos, its like everythign built in t/c..

on some WRXs they said the auto was bigger a bit? and was more better or something.. so ya..

my 90, w/ 82k is a/t and it shifts well, just somethings a hard pull here and there, but i gotta do the honda ATF..
        hahahahah

its not it won't i seen SR20det on autos, luds that are autos.. i mean if ur gonna get into boosting and stuff, just get 5 speed, everyone will tell you that.. but if your like me, just using it as a daily travs, cruise, simple small kind stuff then auto...

but u know power loss, and they are slower.. rather w/ turbo or not, wrx come in auto too.. its jsut slower..
            hahahahah

Yeah but doesn't the auto tranny break really easily when a turbo is used?

it wont "break" it will just wear faster.

but accord auto trannies arnt bullet proof so i would have to go witha manual on this one.
