Low Rolling Resistance Tires worth a try?

I've been getting OK mileage, about 23 avg on my H22 city/hwy mixed. I've seen a couple people on here get an avg of 25 or higher mixed driving.

I was thinking, Yokohama came out with a new tire, Avid Envigor for a 215/45/17 size and they claim Ultra low rolling resistance, yet its still W speed rated for handling and has pretty outstanding 45k mile treadwear rating on it.

Do any of you have low rolling resistance tires, or made the change to some and noticed a big difference?

Another tire I was considering was the Continental Extreme Contact DWS, which also has a LRR claim with 45k mile warranty.

Low rolling resistance=less grip. And speed rating vs handling capability are not the same thing.

You might find some marginal MPG benefits, but you would probably more benefit from some lighter, and smaller width, high grip 15's to be honest.
The OFFICIAL how to add me to your ignore list thread!

how, if at all, is your car tuned?

im getting the same so-so mileage. i guess its not that big of a deal. i get 22-23mpg now, and my coupe used to get 25... which is only like 30mi more per tank. but it still would be nice to have those few extra miles, especially with the way gas prices are going again.

Yeah I'm only asking b/c as I was reading the reviews, the tires I was planning on getting, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus', had some negatives when it came down to mileage returns. Some noted as much as 2-3 mpg worse than before, but that COULD be due to them having worn out tires vs. brand new tires which weigh a bit more and are a slightly greater diameter.

As far as tuning goes, I had my P13 chipped by Joe at Locash Racing in Phx. He lowered VTEC to 4500, eliminated speed limiter and I think the rev limiter is gone, plus he said he also did some partial throttle mapping to it for when I'm just on the highway to use less fuel. I get about 30-31 hwy which is good but just the city is where it kinda lacks compared to other members. Maybe its the shitty 91 gas we have in AZ vs. 93 like some others get at their gas stations in different parts of the country
