whats a good oil pressure??

I finally got my oil pressure gauge working..idk how.. i was driving and all of a sudden it jumped up and starter working lmao

ok..so theres times when my pressure is about 80psi sometimes running about 90psi..im usually doing about 70-75 on the freeway and its this high..

theres also times when its about 25 psi, usually at idle..

im just getting into reading psi and what it means, so any insight would help..

thats good oil pressure. 20 at idle is the lowest id want to see hot.

alright..i know im running good at idle, but i dont know about running temp..this morning when i started my car up it got to almost 100psi while driving, this was before the car was fully warmed up..

but once its warm it runs good. normal 50 to 75 psi, depending on my driving

make shure you are using a good gauge like autometer the cheap gauges you buy at autozone are inacurate junk!!!!!!!!!!!

10psi per 1,000 rpm is good healthy oil pressure with hot oil in a honda, every car is different though.

actually, so you know, the gauges made at autozone "sunpro" are made by a reputable company, know as Snap On i had an autometer one and it read exactly the same..but i also didnt buy the 5 dollar gauge they have at autozone..i bought the good one..

no on a cold start the oil pressure should float around 100 and 105 psi...and should also rise when rpms go up on cold start.....but when warm ur oil pressure should be at 20 but no less than 15 anything lower is considered starving the engine.on warm oil pressure should steadaly rise from 20=idol and stop dead at 80=about 5k rpms or red line.

when at idol ur pressure should be at 20 flat any more or less i would check the oil and see if u are low on oil or have too much oil..
20 oil pressure= low oil
20 or higher at idol =too much oil

yup..lol..

i read about 75psi on cold startup and its constant..

on idle im reading about 25psi and at about 75mph im reading about 75psi..i think my car is ok on psi..

with 5w30 I see 10psi at idle. 10w40 jumps it up to 12-13. I might be trying 10w50 if I can find some for the summer heat. Evidently I have some wide tolerances somewhere.

I get 100+ psi cold and hot oil redline it makes around 95 psi.
