opens @ 4800 rpm to alow more air into the intake. makes are flow pass the air silencer behind the fender.
you can use this if you swap maniflods or motor swaps to open the dual runners.

im going to run turbo with a h23 intake. im thinking of removing the butterflies and just running huge/short runners.

Its only an air silencer, period. It came on all 90/91's and on 92/93 EX's. You dont really need it. If you take it off though just make sure you plug the vacuum line so you don't have a vacuum leak.

um, for real you can use it as an iab? I always thought it was as mrhonda said, a silencer that limits intake at low rpms to reduce engine noise. I've been desperately trying to get an IAB but no one seems to have one. Since I swapped out my stock air box with a CAI, I have my little black box left over. Can anyone confirm it can be used as a replacement for the IAB?

i think cb9 is a little confused or read it wrong, its not the IAB box that is under the itnake manifold. its the one next to the battery that is worthless..

I understand that, but is it possible to take it and use it as an IAB? cuz that's what he proposed. What rpm does it open at?

if he's refering to the box, next to the battery w/ the vaccum cut switch. than i'm right. now if it's the big ass box behind the fender liner. than i'm wrong. i've got my 2nd runner actuator running off that, and it works. i found it opens @ 4800. try it, hook a vacuum line to it, run the idle up on the motor, poof, @ 4800ish it cut the vacuum.

My haynes manual claims it closes at 3500, anyway I installed it today, and I confirm that it does work! The old method of straight to the manifold does close them, but I could never confirm that it opened them back up. Anyways, I reconfirm that this method works!
