well i went and got a alarm installed yesterday. the guy called me and said it was ready so i went and picked it up got halfway home and noitced that my speedo, rpm gauges wasnt working they were workin fine when i dropped it off btw.so i called him and he said bring it back and he would look at it. i told him that i would bring it back today he said ok. well i tried to roll my window down and they dont work either. so i take it back today and they said they worked on it for 3 hours retracing every wire and everything is intact. so my question is what would have caused all this to stop working all at the same time? sorry for the long book im just trying to figure this out asap becasuse my window is rolled halfway down.

They're full of shit. If everything worked before you took it in, and now it doesn't, they've caused the problem. Have you checked fuses? It's possible that they've shorted something during the install and blown a couple. Take it back and be firm but polite, unless you need to act like an asshole. They broke it, they need to remedy the situation.

X2 but.....it will be easy for them to blame the age of your car and if they wanna try and shaft you its will be a pain to get them to cooperate. Good luck! Do double check ALL fuses first though...unless they added a power window roll up module your power windows should not have been touched in any way.

Yeah you found it, if the taillight fuse keeps blowing its DEF the alarm install! They can test this SO EASILY by disconnecting the parking light flash wire from the alarm....I bet it FIXES the problem. Crap it was 10 15 years ago I installed alarms for Circuit City and I still know this simple stuff, what kind of shop did the alarm???

Originally posted by stretch JDM View Postit sounds like they may have tapped into a wire and its not grounded properly. have another shop look at it and then contact the BBB of TN. then send them a copy of the bill.
Definitely take it back to them. If it wasn't blowing a fuse, it could have been a relay, or a bad cluster, or who knows what... But since it IS blowing a fuse, then it's grounding out somewhere. It's DEFINITELY something caused by an improperly modified or damaged wire. I suppose this means you have no tail lights too, right? Their mistake made your car unsafe...
Go in, tell them that you've identified what's going wrong, and you believe their wiring caused the problem. Ask them to fix it. If they don't, calmly mention that you will be taking it elsewhere to be diagnosed and repaired, and then you will be seeking the counsel of a lawyer. HOPEFULLY the threat will be enough for them to fix it, but if they still won't... I'd suggest doing exactly that! Have someone else fix it. A qualified professional. Document what was done every step of the way... and be sure to show very clearly exactly what was causing the problem. The person that corrects their mistake can testify on your behalf.
See, their incompetence not only caused frustration, but made your car unsafe to drive. For a shop to make a vehicle unsafe, take no responsibility for it, and refuse to fix their problem... that's bad. That's something that will get them sued for a LOT more than the cost of an alarm install!
just sayin...
