car shudders when i take off in first

used the search function but it wasn't working right or something.

lately i've noticed when i take off in first, and sometimes when i shift down to 2nd when taking a slow turn, my car shudders/vibrates. it mainly does it when i first get in it and its cold, but still does it at some redlights.

i've read around on the net that it could be the clutch going bad but also have got varied answers as well.

anyone have/had a problem like this?

From what i've found so far it could be one of many things with the clutch. If you haven't done it before you might want to get a friend that knows more about them or possibly take it to a mechanic to have them check it out. I searched around and asked a couple of people and everything keeps saying the clutch plate could be worn, pressure plate springs are possibly weak, the thrust bearing could be faulty, or it could have oil on the clutch plate. I really don't know but like I said that's all i've found.

How many miles you got on that clutch
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

its got 215,000. as far as i know its never been changed because my mom has had it since roughly around 140,000 and it became mine around 165,000.

i know its long overdue for something like this to be going bad that why i'm trying to figure it out before it gets any worse.

yeah i've also considered those as well because i know my front mount has a crack in it, and i haven't checked the others.

if it grabs and shakes it can be the clutch disc. but if you say it does it when you downshift to second it makes me think otherwise. like a mount.

Does it slip in any gear if you put it in gear and floor it?

i haven't tried that yet. i know for one thing the engine has never "raced" on me while i've been driving down the road.

i'll try it out and let you know.

tried putting it in gear and flooring it in every gear, never slipped.

the only problem i'm really having is it shuddering on take off when the engines cold.

damn this is a problem? I just thought I was shitty at handling a stick shift. Yeah my car vibrates a shit load when I'm backing up slowly or I'm first taking off. Since it only did this while doing the clutch to gas I just thought it was me. Damn keep the thread alive I want to know more.

revv higher and let the engine warm up LOL problem solved. It doesnt seem like a bad issue since its not slipping in gear.

                      check the front motor mount.

Flywheel could be warped, it will cause a shudder just like when your front rotors get warped and your brake pedal vibrates at HWY speeds.

IMO if the flywheel was warped you would have HUGE issues with vibrations at all times since the flywheel is bolted to the engines crank. If you been driving on it long it would of destroyed that motor.

I don't know how warped you think I'm talking about......... NOT like this

Over time flywheels can get high spots and need to be machined when you replace the clutch. Not always but it depends on how you drive.
