car underwater what should i check?

so last nite i went out to a bar to meet up with some friends...when i get there it was nice and dry outside then i start seeing people coming in soaking wet...i didnt think much about it until it was time for me to go home and when i walked out i see my car under alot of water! the water got up above the top of my lip so i had my sis push me out onto dry street, and turned her over and she started right up...when i get home i notice that the pasenger side carpet was wet and my exhaust note was different...i figured water got in there too. not all of it was submergeed since the street was at an angle the passenger side got most of the water. my question is what should i check for to see if its damaged due to the water? it ran fine and eevrything seemed normal besides the exhaust note thanks

Well I assume that since the exhaust gets really hot after extended use, the water in it would evaporate. Unless you had a cold air intake, i dont think there can be other damage to it. I run my wires to my amp along the passenger side floor, so if you have any wires or anything running there I would check it.

I'd check the ECU since it's on that side of the car under the passenger side rug. Check any/all wireing harnesses in the car near the floor.
not much else to really check. I would get a wet dry vac out to your car and make 100% sure you have the the rug dry. if you have the time get under the rug too. You'll likely need to take te passenger seat out to really get under the rug..

i was soaking alot of water up with rags and it looks like most of the water went in through the rear passenger door...theres more water back there than up front so hopefully no damamge to the ecu...ive been running her all day and no problems...just the exhaust sounds louder...and i do have a CAI thats why i didnt want to start it while it was under water.

You'd have real problems had you have done so.

if it gout up over the lip, id check all fluids (oil+trans)......you'd be suprised how you can get water in those things.........just that and the ECU

But if he had a bypass valve for his CAI, he still could of started it right?
