Car sometimes won't start... when warm?

So my wagon is having a really weird problem. Although it starts every time I go out to it in the morning, after work, after school, etc. it sometimes won't restart right away when the engine is warm.

For example, I stopped at a gas station to get a pop. Went inside, came back out a minute later, turned the key, the car started, then died immediately and wouldn't start again. Tried again after a few seconds, still nothing. Just sat there for about 5 minutes and tried it, turned right back on.

Another time, I was about to pull the car into my garage. I turned it off for a moment because I didn't want to leave it running outside while I picked some stuff up so there would be a good spot. Went back out, turned the key, the engine started and immediately died. Went back inside, waited for a few minutes, turned the key, and it came right back on.

And this last time, a cop pulled me over for expired tabs, I had the new tabs, but just forgot to put them on. When I tried to start the car up it started up, died, and wouldn't restart. After a few minutes with a bit of cranking, it restarted.

So this not starting after being off for just a few minutes is completely new to me. Normally a car doesn't start after being off overnight or something, not just a few minutes.. I just replaced the cap and rotor on it. Battery's fine, the car turns over no problem, just doesn't start.

Main relay 99% sure. They tend to fail at there solders on the circuit boards causing it to cut fuel off sometimes and other times not.

Main relay actually was my first thought, but I thought main relay cause the car to not start the majority of the time? This just doesn't start right after being turned off. I suppose the relay somehow needs to cool off?

Heat expands the cracks in the solders. The relay does actually get hot and I theorize this is why it will almost always crank when its cold and it has trouble after it got turned off.

Point still remains its your Main Relay. Things a bitch to replace though

Mine used to do the same thing. Car would fire up, I'd hit the gas station and have to sit for ten minutes before it would start again. Drove me crazy.
I didn't think it was a bitch; unbolt the CC box, unbolt the relay, switch to the new relay, find a place to put it where it's getting a little more fesh air than it used to, bolt the CC control back into place. Took me like 15 minutes and I think a 10 mm socket on an extension.

to make it run slightly cooler, you can drill holes in the case for better airflow

If you have a internal coil id check that.
