1. remove the upper and lower ignition/steering wheel covers.
(Its 3 screws underneath. The covers are in two pieces)
2. lower the lever on the steering column to bring it down.
3. get yourself a nice center punch.
4. locate the 2 sheer bolts.
(They should be the only two gold bolts holding the ignition bracket with no heads.)
5. with a ball peen hammer try to hit and turn the screw at the same time.
(This is the most tedious part.)
6. Once you got that off the ignition should drop down.
7. you can separate the mechanical part from the electrical part.
(should be 2 small screws on the left side of the mechanical part)
8. The electrical part plugs into the lower dash fuse box, so follow the harness.
9. install same order as removal.
(Make sure that the mechanical part is centered on the steering shaft, make sure the steering locks when you turn it all the way.)
10. now that you have taken care of that, install the new sheer bolts.
(Part number: 35102-SV4-003. You need "2" and they should be $1 something at Honda).
That's it really.
I know it kind of sucks without pictures. But its self explanatory.

ok Richie, i'm actually at the sheer bolt point and stopped. i'm trying to figure out which part is electrical (switch) so you are saying i have to remove the sheer bolts to remove the switch from the tumbler housing right! danm! IS THE SHEER BOLT easier to install than to remove? Richie how much is that ignition switch new from honda, ( got part#) thx.

just wanted to bump this old thread because of its usefulness. The cold weather effected my ignition just today and my car began exactly like this:
Following JaK FRoSTWhiTE's procedure i replaced this problematic ignition switch. Got a duralast one for $44.50 and it works great.
---4. locate the 2 sheer bolts.
(They should be the only two gold bolts holding the ignition bracket with no heads.)----
I would also like to add that those 3 bolts said above holding the ignition switch is actually a 6mm.
