Timing belt replace w/seals AND camshaft?

I’m replacing my timing belt and want to replace all components possible while I’m there.

    I think I need:
    crankcase seal
    camshaft seal
    countershaft seal retainer
    Belt tensioner
    Dipstick o ring
    water pump
    Side engine mount
Anything else I can replace while I’m there?

I’m to install a “Balancer Shaft Lock Pin” to hold the rear balancer shaft in place. Do I need a special tool or can I use a pin punch or something similar?

To replace the camshaft seal do I just hold the shaft tight after removing the timing belt and ease the seal on and off?

I have a timing belt replacement procedure in the 93 and 91 shop manual PDFs that are online, but they don’t have a procedure for replacing the camshaft.

There’s a camshaft replacement procedure here:
    http://hondaaccordforum.com/forum/ar...hp/t-3080.html

What if I were replacing the camshaft and timing belt at the same time? Is the lower part of the engine locked in place with the balancer shaft lock pin and when I lock down the timing adjusting arm? And then when you replace the camshaft the camshaft key aligns it and you reset the valves anyway so the top end is taken care of that way?

Finally, what about the rear seal. I know there is one, and it’s leaking, but I don’t see a procedure anywhere to replace it.

    Any help appreciated!

    1. No special tool needed. I just used a screwdriver to lock it in place while installing the belt and setting tension.

    2. I would loosen, but don't remove the camshaft sprocket bolt WHILE THE BELT is still attached. Then remove the belt, camshaft sprocket, and remove the seal. If you leave the spark plugs in, it makes it harder for the cam and crank shafts to move.

    3. To replace the rear main seal you need to remove the transmission.

I'm not sure on the other items you listed.

Do I need both a new timing belt tensioner AND a balance shaft tensioner?

An oem balanceshaft seal retainer will come with a new dipstick o-ring. You don't HAVE to replace both timing and balanceshaft tensioner but at the very minimum, inspect for excessive play and make sure there is no reddish brown dust (sign the bearing is failing). Change them both now if you want an added piece of mind.

As mentioned, I just use a screwdriver or punch to lock the rear balanceshaft cog. I also like to mark the cog/engine with a paint pen at TDC before I remove the belt.
