Code 43...what can cause that?

I used a 6' PVC pipe as a breaker bar. Broke the wrench in the process, but eventually it came off. I legitamately broke a drop forged wrench...but such is life. The sensor eventually came out.

Nice. I could try my dad's 3/4" ratchet. But a 1/2" drive breaker bar + cheater bar would do it. And if nothing else, drill it out, weld it up, and have a new bung installed.

Could a faulty TPS cause a code 43 rather than a code 7? The car's not going over 4000 RPMs and it only has codes 43, 12, and 14. (EGR and IACV are deleted) And I've heard RPM limits are usually from the TPS. Gonna try that o2 sensor as soon as I get home tonight first though.

The o2 sensor's threads broke on the way out, but it came out. Just had to use a thread chaser to fix the threads and put a new one in. For some reason though, that actually didn't fix it. The only thing I can think of is the fact that the car is running too cool might somehow cause the error. My thermostat was removed because it was faulty and making the car overheat, but it was never replaced. Maybe without the thermostat the car is always running thinking it's cold and trying to warm up?

You should never run your car without a thermostat. Replace it asap!

Sorta thought so. After it was pulled out I was just told that it's summer so there should be no problems. Then while driving yesterday I noticed the car had quite a bit of power (after idling for some time) then when I saw the temp gauge start to fall I could feel the loss of power start to kick in. This is why I don't like mechanics. Tell me I'm safe to run without a thermostat. I don't know how a lack of a thermostat could hurt it but the computer could compensate because it's fuel injected, or the tranny fluid might not heat up enough without the engine heating and something something something.

check the ect sensor then...code 43 just means that the o2 is reading a lean condition and it is over fueling for compensation.

Like everyone says, I myself have some experience with it.

I bought an O2 from autozone, BOSCH branded.

Worked good for a month or so, not even. Then I get the 43 engine light code again.

When performing the o2 replacement, disconnect your battery. Therefore it wont have that code on there. After you are done, go ahead and rewire the pin to see if the cel is still throwing you thata code. You are good if when you jump the pin and the engine light stays on and no codes.

Go to Rockauto, they have denso fitted o2 sensors for our cb's, ngk if you like but its much much pricier, denso works fine and gets the job done. O2 not only gets rid of the cel.

                But.

                1. Slow, or bogging when coming out of stop signs, red lights.
                2. Weird idling.
                3. Gas mileage.

Out of all 3, they are not guranteed. There may be other causes in your fuel system supply, it never hurts to take some of your components out and clean them.

O2 replacement is your best bet. I can almost gurantee you this is the fix of many 43 cel code error.
I used to drop below 1000kRPM at stop lights, like my car is gonna die, then it revs itself back up to 1.5k then drops bck down below 1k, this was so annoying..

                Hope this helps.

Alot of aftermarket o2 sensors just won't work for our cars. I don't know why, but they will "work" but the code will still be thrown. As to the thermostat; it won't affect the car in terms of fuel efficent or fix your 'code 43' but it is not wise to run without one. You engine will run cool all the time straining the internals because its easier to lubricate with warm oil than it is cool oil.

My suggestion is to try to find an OE o2 sensor and if you can't, i use a Denso. Now i have been told that they don't work for all cars, but it does for mine, so idk

Replacing the thermostat fixed most of the problems. Still not going past 4000 RPMs though. What does ECT stand for? And it's still getting bad mileage though, I'm about to go reset the ECU codes.

Resetting it only put out a code 14. No surprise, the IACV is gone. After driving it a bit I'll see if the code comes back.
