Car just flat out died while idling??

First off hello everybody, this is my first official post of many. Quickey bio, I have a 92lx, of course its a damn Slushbox, basic mods AEM CAI (NO bypass!), Nakayama axel back, Jacobs ICE pak ignition, Jacobs 8.5mm wires, Optima Red Top, Mobil 1 synthetic, some ICE, Rota Gunmetal Subzeros 7.5" wraped with Kumho 711s 215/40/17 and thats about it, a few small cosmetic things no body kits or anything everything else is stock. Best time so far 16.8@82mph Rivercity Raceway San Antonio. I also post on texasracingscene.com, superhonda.com and not really anymore but, speedoptions.com

Ok again glad I finally found a site dedecated to just 4 gen accords, and i should be posting on here frequently. Here is my problem, I just got off work and so my car is ice cold, not litterally, so i jump in start it up everything seems perfectly ordinary. It idles like it usally does when very cold about 1.5K rpms and after about 30 seconds of warming up, it just turns off! Best way I can describe it is if you just plain ole grabed the key and litterally turned the key off. It didnt sputter, or gasp, didnt miss, just flat out OFF. At first i was thinging O shit Timing Belt!! Should i crank it or no? After deciding that it hopefully wasnt i cranked it again, and once again started right up as if nothing had happeded. (Shes a sly little girl I tell ya) idled for about 30 more seconds and then same exact thing!! Just flat out OFF. So I thought maybe one of the wires from my ignition has come loose may be the coil wire or something, poped the hood and looked throughly as much as possilble without tools and didnt see anything amiss. AGHhhh not good, once again jumped in Started right up perfectly normal and this time it didnt die after about 30 seconds, so I decided to tempt the fates and throw it d4 and take off hoping it wont die on the highway. No problems what so ever, and it hasnt done that since i last went to work a couple days ago?? Does anyone know what could be doing this? Distrubutor Crank position sensor? Not the fuel filter just changed that out shortly ago and i dont think its ignition related? Anybody please help, Thanks for your time.

Could just be an awful vacuum leak, but that usually affects the idle quality too. Could be your ignition switch going out. Hard to say without being there, you know?

That shit is very technical right there. Have someone look at the engine first check for spark then fuel then try to see if it gets compression . You can hear the spark damn brutha you got it bad.

Well i know there is good compression thats not the issue whatsoever, i checked it about 8 months ago and got right at 175/174 across all 4 cylinders with 180psi being brand new. Over all I take very good care of my car i dont believe that any of the regularly changed maintence items would be the cause, since I have changed all of them. Its definately not the ignition system, well i hope not life time warrantee on the Jacobs system anyways but i pulled the coil wire off while it was running and it still jumped about a 5" gap from the coil wire in my hand into the socket where the wire attaches!! Damn that looks hot, I better put that back without getting shocked. Its also not throwing any codes, I just dont know its probably some damn relay or something. Still hasnt done it since then. Anyone else have any ideas?

OK update, i redid the coil connection that attaches to the coil post. I took of the coil wire to distrubutor completely and removed the boots on both ends and it seemed that the end that was connected to the coil had virtually disengreated!! The damn connector on the coil wire was brand new, only about 3 months old. So i dont know whats happening here, it looks like the coil it self it just running too damn hot or the connector inside the coil wire boot, is just not making good contact causing extra heat, or what? So again i cut off he boot and restripped off some fresh wire and put another brand new connector on the wire and reinstalled the boot. I went back to the coil terminal post and saw some corrosion, brown almost rusty looking crud on the end and almost covering the entire metal tip. So I cleaned all that crap off a best i could and reinstalled the coil wire to distrubutor with the new connector installed and this time i clamped it down even more so it will be more snug against the coil post terminal, hope fully this will help if there is a problem with any play in the connector. Lastly went over ALL the connections and made sure all the grounds were perfect, set it back up where the stock coil is bypassed. Damn cranked right up instantanly, perfect idled very well and didnt die!! Hmm so for a few days now no problems what so ever, (knocking on wood as he types) and hopefully the problem was only this simple thing.

i have this problem but it happends when its cold, later my problem can accelerate...so please let me know of ur outcome..
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

              Retro!

friend of mine told me It could have something to do with the battery on the cold cranking amps. I have a diehard gold battery. Then again it could be the altenator reason being that shits supposed to keep the car runnin. I changed my fuel pump and everything but all and all I think its just maybe I need a tuneup. Im goin to do that shit this weekend.

Cool a tune up most always helps, if you dont notice a difference in the way it runs, well then you know your on top of changing that stuff out!! Which is a good thing. Still so far so good on the dying problem. In my case cold cranking amps is not a problem at all Optima Red Top on my baby, i believe that its like 980 CCA, I mean the damn starter sounds like it getting too much power sometimes, i really noticed a differance when i bought it replacing my shitty WalMart Everstart POS battery! Sounded like a turbo up grade from NA not kidding it was kinda funney first time i cranked with the Red Top on the case. I was like O shit is the starter ok???
