Yea I used to have one of these schedules in my car. I probably still do somewhere. I never understood why the maintenance schedule stopped at that point. I mean, what is the schedule once you have 270,000+

Thats why it says EVERY 3, 15, 30, etc. Follow this, and you can't go wrong.

mrhonda: Could you elaborate more on this "countershaft gearset O-ring?" Also, your maintenance schedule is geared for an automatic transmission with the ATF fluid.

And what does a 27 point inspection encompass?

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

The rear countershaft has a reverse-idler gearset at the end of the countershaft and instead of a seal like the front shaft, there is a big o-ring behind the gearset that you replace. Two 12mm bolts and one 12mm nut and the gearset pops off. Oh, and yes you are correct about the transmission fluid. The only difference is manual trannys get fluid changes every 60K instead of every 30K like the autos.

Basicly just looking over the car really good. Brakes, suspension components, leaks, etc. etc. etc.

What are you trying different lubes?

Man, I didn't realize it until now, but your car and aero3685's are looking a lot alike. He has a coupe and bronze rims thought, but the overall style is similar, especially the front end.

What if i have a retainer that is old? Replace that too? Oh can you
repeat that process again, getting to the countershaft gearset o-ring.

Yeah, you can resuse the retainer thats already there, just remove it, replace the seal, and reinstall the retainer.

The gearset o-ring is just a gasket between the reverse-idler gearset case and the engine block which is located on the rear countershaft.

BTW, maybe someone should make this a sticky, being as this is the tech/maint forum and there always seems to be alot of questions about what needs to be done when. Well, its all right here...

The local dealership said this past year that Honda corp. no longer advises changing the fuel filter as regular maintanance. Has anyone else heard this? I asked them about this since I no longer saw it listed for parts on my invoice.

Also I thought I heard something about the timing belt now being done every 90mi or 5 years. Wasn't sure if that is true.
