Im not 100% positive but those hoses may not be the correct size. It seems odd that the clamps would be so compressed on the hoses. I would think over time that's what caused them to leak. Smaller diameter hose next time?
That top hose looks like it may have been replaced before, but go ahead and change them both. There might be some more of the same size around, so Id suggest you change those at the same being that when you replace these, then the problem could spread somewhere else if not replaced. Then just change the coolant, and you should be good to go.

It happens, its just maintenance.
Thanks Brudda !!!
Yeah .. it was perfect .. then all of a sudden .. bang, it was there .. amazing!
Also, when you flush your coolant (as I would cuz ur gonna lose a shit-ton anyways) make sure to get some water pump lubricant (now called anti-rust) and mix that with ur coolant/water mix. What I do is put a whole one of those into a empty clean milk carton, then less than half with coolant and the rest with distilled water, and my coolant stays nice and clean and this'll clear out any deposits in your system from the corrosion!
You'll need to spend real money on parts with real engineering to see any real gains. Anyone who says otherwise is either ignorant, or trying to sell you something.
Back to the electrolisis, its a common problem with GM vehicles and clogs up the radiator sometimes due to bad grounds. It looks similar to what you had and thats why I mentioned it. You may have good grounds to make the car run but they may be dirty or something. I think thats why there is a ground attached to the thermo housing to prevent this problem.
^^ i would also do what kellogg said, get some kind of agent to clean out your coolant system because that same crud could be somewhere else inside the engine.
