speed sensors? difference between models?

I've been having a really frustrating time trying to make my speedometer work like normal. I'm getting a code 17, which is the VSS, but are there certain types of VSS' that only work w/ "X" type of plug? Are auto and 5spd VSS' compatible?

Right now I've got the one with the wire and connector coming out of it, vs. the one where the plug from the car's wire harnes plugs into a fixed connector atop the VSS.

If it makes any difference, I've got an M2B4 LSD 5spd. Did a auto to 5spd conversion back in August.

But here's what I don't get....when my VSS crapped out on me, I checked Autozone, since it was closeby and they had 2 types, one for 89.99 and the wire one which I have for 130.99. They both had 3 pin connectors. How do I know which one works?

they are all 3 pin connectors...as far as i know, i believe they are all the same. even mine worked on my friends 5th gen accord. it didnt have a plug on top but a pigtail style. ive seen both.

id get a used one or a cheaper one.

yea i get u man i have an auto and mu speedo is not working and i get cel 17 too sorry i cant help but if u find out the problem let me know lol

but i get and egr cel too some one told me i might have them mixed up ????

I went to the Pick N Pull today and jacked one off an Accord, the car had 180K on it, but it was an Auto version....thats kinda why I was wondering if they had different circuitry inside. Looked identical to my current one which works intermittently. I tried using a shit load of dielectric grease on the contacts and that helped a little bit but didn't take care of it completely.

yeah one problem at a time man. I remember when I had EGR codes...was frustrating as hell figuring out that MAP sensor routing and that black box under the hood w/ all those vac. lines.
