Why does the key stick in the ignition

A while back my key kept getting stuck in the ignition lock. It sometimes would take 5-10 try to finally get it out. I had the lock replaced and every thing was fine. Recently when I go to get out of my car the key sticks again. The car is in park with the E-brake on and I press the brake when exiting. After a couple tries it works again. Has anyone had this problem or know what is wrong?

Did you figure out that you need to push the key in while you turn it off? Also, if that isn't it wiggle the steering wheel while you turn the key. Mine does that every once in a while if you turn the wheel...safety thing I suppose.

when you put the key in the ignition keep the wheel pulled to the right or left (I think its the left, but I forget which one). keep it pulled in that direction and turn the key. its a safety feature, and the car should start without any problems.

We are starting to see this more and more in the 4Gs... It's usually the Shift Position Switch, located in the center console. The part is about $50 from Honda, and we charge an hour labor to replace it. Symptoms you may notice are that it takes a while for the indicator on the dash to actually acknowledge that the shifter is in park.

No, manuals are unaffected by this problem, as the do not have the shift lock mechanism or the failing shift position switch.
