Squirrells under my hood or something?

Occasionally my car makes this really weird chirpy/chattery noise. It seriously sounds like a couple squirrells or chipmunks in my engine bay. I have no clue what is causing it, as it just seems to do it randomly.

It does not change in speed or pitch with the motor, it just sounds like something vibrating. It may do it when I back out of the driveway and then accelerate away, or may randomly do it while cruising along the road. It only lasts for a few seconds and stops.

But it's so weird. It is not blower motor related because it does it even when the blower is off. ABS module perhaps? Anything like that? It's such a weird noise and it drives me nuts and I can't get the car to make the noise while standing still to see where it's coming from.

My car does it in the rear. I thought a mouse might have gotten into the trunk during storage, but never found one. I notice it most when it's cooler outside and usually in the morning. I have no idea what causes it cause it's not speed related or caused by going over bumps. I gave up on it now and just try to ignore it.

So you guys know the noise I mean then, so its not just my car. It's so weird. People have told me theyve heard it from outside the car and it's kinda loud.

Good point...I havent really noticed it much lately because it has been warm, but lastnight it significantly cooled down and I went out around 930pm and it did it like crazy.

what in the AC would cause that? I don't use my AC ever. It's like a mechanical chirping noise.

no idea but my moms a/c in her pilot makes wierd noises all the time

Mine kina makes a weird engine bay related noise aswell, kind of a humming/chirping noise but i only hear it when the car is idleing farely low. To me, it sounds like alternator whine or some kind of weird A/C humming noise...

Ive noticed it now the last 2 days doing it fairly constantly while driving. I'm thinking it could be a pulley or something. It's really, really annoying. I don't hear it if the radio is on, but if it's not I can hear it do it very often while driving.

Last thing I want it to be is my timing belt on it's way out.

is your a auto or 5 speed? my old black coupe did it and I found out it was my slave cylinder chattering. dont know how but it was.
I dont know if thats your problem but it was mine.
