    Trans dilema

I keep going over and over this and I just dunno what to do.

So I want to go the boost route and have begun collecting parts for a 14b DSM setup, but I'm very fearful the auto tranny will not take the abuse for long, if at all. Therefore I need to get a 5 speed in there.

However, I don't think I'm skilled enough to do a tranny swap on my own and I talked to a local shop and he wants almost $2,000 in just labor. Another option is to sell my CB and buy a 5 speed. But my motor is sound and who knows what I'd be getting into with another motor that I'm unfamiliar with. Oye, what should I do! I'm losing hope for a boosted cb7

    Any insight would be helpful.

Heres what I would do. If you desperately want to boost, go 5 speed. 2000 bucks is ridiculous for a swap. For that price, you could sell your car for a 5 speed and have it boosted with your setup. You can boost the auto (I've done it with my Civic) but you're shortening the life of it tremendously. Boosting the auto is difficult without proprer tuning, because you will be boosting through your shifts. This calls for the shifts points needing raised, hence some expense tuning. Also, read up a bit on your options and good luck on your project

It seems like the only right thing to do is a 5 speed swap. I'm just frustrated by the fact that I couldn't do it without a guide, and no one locally will charge anything half way decent.

Man hahaha I pull Civics around on a dolly with my auto wagon and it does fine. I say boost the piss out of it (of course dont insert your foot in the radiator everywhere you go) and you should be fine. And get an H22a auto because I mean it can handle the 200hp from it plus more.

Well if I was gunna swap the transmission, I'd just swap in a 5 speed lol.

yea but with the h22 auto all you have to do is move the 3 stud to reuse the cb mount...thats why he suggested it you can find decent prices on auto h22 trans just look around...it seems like the hardest part about a auto to manual swap is just the whole fabrication of the shifter/pedal etc...but with some patience and a friend with a welder you could take care of it in a weekend just putzing...idk though.

I say do the h22 auto trans and get a real real real good tune, maybe a different ecu. for your budget and circumstance anyways. otherwise just go for the manual swap lol
