BTW...let me know if you need help with the valvetrain related stuff you were thinking about doing (ie. slipping timing belt off for something, I forget).

Just pulled the head off my A4 last night, it's easy as hell. Only thing I'd worry about is screwing up the timing while doing it(Not that I have to worry). But whatever, as long as you get it back on close to where it was you can adjust the timing later. Check one of the online Honda manuals for the bolt loosening sequence, it's a three-step process.

yeah thats the only thing im worried about, fucking up the timing and crank her up then BAM, the pistons come up and french kiss the valves.
only thing im nervous about working on....anything that deals with the timing belt, anything esle i wont hesitate doing.

there should be a tensioner that holds the lower portion of the belt in place right???
so when i slide it off the cam gear i dont have to worry about it sliding of at the mid/bottom area?

lol.. i didnt loosen the tensioner or anything.. just slipped the belt right off the cam gear.. well not literally slipped it took some effort.. i marked it and blah blah blah before all this.. got it to TDC. marked the dizzy.. blah blah.. lol.. u get the picture.. and as for funds??
ive spent roughly 200? or so.. but thats because all of my old tools got thrown out due to hurricane and no room to pack em in the storage.. sigh

bought a new 2ton jack/ oil-coolant catcher/ socket set.. torque wrench blah blah blah.. so yeah.. it isnt very expensive to do at all..

btw....be REALLL fucking careful with the tps.. once i was done it was revving like a mad man... 1k-6k.. spitting flames and shit.. hehehe.. had to jack the tps with the throttlebody off of my 91.. so yeah..

yeah i heard, ive replaced my tps 3 times, well once but the first and second time i did it i broke the damn sensor myself, didnt line it up right with the line up thingy in the TB.
i had like 2 extra TB's laying around tho so that help and the only reason i didnt just transfer the whole TB was because i have a JG bored throttle body, so going from that back to stock would have been a waste of loot...but thinks forks
now i just have to wait til i get some funds for a OEM gasket and torque wrench

another tip from mrx brought to you by "deez nutz":

                      1. if ur scared about the cam timing being off rotate the crank with a socket and rachet a couple of turns carefully...if it binds or sounds like metal is making contact with other metal in the cylinders then just hope u didn't bend a valve already. Actually go ahead and rotate the engine b4 u start the head gasket swap so u can get used to the sounds the engine makes when manually being turned over.

                      2. loosen the timing belt with the tensioner to take it off

                      3. if u don't have a timing light make an mark on the distribtor where it mates up with the head so u don't have to guess where the dizzy was set b4 you took it off.

                        # 2-- HATER! lol u can however loosen the tensioner with the timing belt covers on.. dont member if u can reach it with the drivers side motor mount bolt on.. gonna have to jack the car.. then put a jack with a piece of wood under the engine.. and lower the other jack.. just enough to take off slack from the motor mounts.. remove the bolt then raise again.. anyway.. i didnt need to.. if u dont loosen the tensioner it will be a pita to put it back on unless u know how

edit.. also.. its easy as hell to get the car back on timing.. even if u fuck up.. just get piston # 1 to TDC.. rotate the cam gear on the head (while still off with a socket until the arrow is point up and the two timing marks are level with the head then install.. timing may be off by a teeth or two.. but u have an adjustable cam gear right?

btw... why are u changing the headgasket?? just because? or something else?
