Strange problem with filling up gas

I don't know what's going on, but lately I can't seem to fill my tank higher than like 3/4 full

I recently ran the car down to where the gas needle was basically at E... the low fuel light never came on, and when I filled up it only took about 11 gallons

What is the deal? Anyone ever crush a gas tank by bottoming out? I don't think it's the gauge measurement device; after 11 gallons it physically wouldn't take any more gas.

i believe there may be a vent tube that allows air to escape as you are filling the tank because you cant put more volume into something without taking something out.

0.5mm Oversized Stainless valves and bronze guides available. Pm me please.

That makes sense. I'm gonna look at the old Haynes manual
