Hey I dont mean to hijack this thread, but I plan on changing my oil from 10W-40 oil (i just bought the car and that was the oil the owner told me he used) to 5w-30. I have 142,000 miles on it. I want to know if I should pour about 1/3 a bottle of SeaFoam into the oil from the opening, run the car for awhile (like 2-3 hours?), then drain it and put in a new filter and 5w-30?

I use 10-40 high mileage oils. I've been running Valvoline but am going to switch to Kendal High Mileage. From the sounds of it though, I think I'll switch to 5-30 just so the engine is running on what its suppose to.

Now the type of oil you use is important but whats most importan, (and i'm sure all of you alredy know this) is changing your oil regularly.
